Taraxacum officinale

Simple and fresh and fair from winter's close emerging,
As if no artifice of fashion, business, politics, had ever been,
Forth from its sunny nook of shelter'd grass--innocent, golden, calm as the dawn,
The spring's first dandelion shows its trustful face.

—Walt Whitman

When you get a close up like this, you make them look like beautiful flowers. When I see them in my yard by the dozens, they aren't so pretty. The rabbits love them, so I guess that counts for something.

I've always wondered how they'd hold up in a vase, but I always forget to pick them in time. I wish I could be lucky enough to photograph a bunny nibbling the dandelions
